Spotlight: Lone Cougar by Nicole Lake

Title: Lone Cougar
Series: Solo Shift #2
Author: Nicole Lake
Genre: Shifter Romance
Release Date: April 24, 2017

I didn't particularly care for Ryan when he showed up for his first massage. And I don't particularly care for him now, even if he's the hottest thing in Green Holler. Especially because he's the hottest thing in Green Holler.

He reminds me of every player I met in high school and college, he travels constantly because of his work, and I'm sure he's got a girl in every airport. And his work? He's the guy Dad hired for advice on expanding his art store, and I can just see him changing it into McArts or something cheesy.

My Review:

You may need another pair of undies after this one for more than one reason. When you just really need to read something that blends great humor and smoking hot sex you can never go wrong with a book by Gina L. Maxwell. I've been anticipating this series ever since it was announced and it definitely delivered my two favorite Maxwell traits.

Liv might be my favorite heroine Gina has written, she's vulnerable but not weak and she really impressed me. Erik didn't totally win me over and it took me a little while to decide that it's because he felt like a category romance hero rather than a single title romance hero. Still not sure quite how to explain that but chances are I'm alone in my feeling—I'm notoriously picky about heroes.

HOT FOR THE FIREMAN did a wonderful job of both presenting a great romance and laying down some groundwork for the series. I enjoyed the secondary characters a lot, in particular one who I quickly began to wonder about possibly being based on another author I enjoy reading (you'll have to read it to find out!). There's so much going for this book I can't think of a reason not to recommend it... okay, I don't recommend it if you hate reading fun, sexy books featuring firemen. See, totally objective. (5 stars)

About Hot for the Fireman:

Ex-Army Ranger Erik Grady lives for the job. So when his chief at the Boston Fire Department offers him two choices—mandated therapy for supposed PTSD or a permanent desk job at the station, he reluctantly agrees to see a shrink. Only this doctor is unlike anything he expected. Female and curved in all the right places? Check. Hotter than a four-alarm fire? Check. The kind of woman that can heat his blood in and out of bed? Check, check. And oh, yeah, he just happens to have first hand experience...
