Do you consider yourself to be a patient person?
I'm very patient so when you find me going Goblin King about something it's really big. I'm on week 3 of going Goblin King about something. It's starting to make it hard for me to read. I'm distracted to say the least.
This weekend I'm continuing The Thousandth Floor, which released on Tuesday. It's... different. I started seeing other people's reviews popping up so I think it's going to be a polarizing book.
There are way too many characters to keep straight which might be some of why I'm still iffy. I'm kinda giddy over all the futuristic stuff though. A scene involving a sort of gummy bear type thing that screams if you bite it in half was pretty weird but in an enjoyable way. I've never watched Gossip Girl though so I'm not sure if it really compares or not. No matter whether I end up rating the book high or not... that cover tho.
My other read is one I picked up at random because something about the cover called to me and it was only 99¢. I decided to start reading it this week one night when I couldn't sleep because nothing else was holding my interest. Broken is the first book in the Extrahuman Union series. It's like nothing I've read before—well, okay comics kinda, but not really—and I think that's a really good thing. Sometimes I have got to break the rules I set for myself (ie. no for-fun reading when I have a review copy backlog) or I will go bananas.
With it's somewhat dystopian flavor and strong writing I think Broken is going to wind up being a great read. There are two other titles in the series available so I might wind up snagging them once I finish it. If you're in the mood for something not YA or romance be sure to check it out.
Since it's a long weekend here in the states I'm also going to be doing a big trial run of the Comixology Unlimited service. Think Kindle Unlimited but digital graphic novels. From Sex Criminals and Jem to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Pretty Deadly. Lots of good stuff! I'm going to do a review of the service over on The Rhialist once I have a good feel for whether I think it's worth the $5.99 a month. Be sure and leave a comment and let me know if you want me to cross-post that review here.
On that note my lovelies I really ought to get going. The day has raced away from me somehow and my TBR is calling my name. Have a wonderful weekend! -- Rhi
