Walk the Edge - cover

One moment of recklessness will change their worlds

Smart. Responsible. That's seventeen-year-old Breanna's role in her large family, and heaven forbid she put a toe out of line. Until one night of shockingly un-Breanna-like behavior puts her into a vicious cyberbully's line of fire—and brings fellow senior Thomas "Razor" Turner into her life.

Razor lives for the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and good girls like Breanna just don't belong. But when he learns she's being blackmailed over a compromising picture of the two of them—a picture that turns one unexpected and beautiful moment into ugliness—he knows it's time to step outside the rules.

And so they make a pact: he'll help her track down her blackmailer, and in return she'll help him seek answers to the mystery that's haunted him—one that not even his club brothers have been willing to discuss. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they're both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they're going from here.

My Review:

Heart-rending, breath-stealing, and worth the lost sleep! (5 Stars)

Oh y'all. Oh. Oh. Oh. It has been a while since I fell this hard for a book boyfriend.

Last fall someone mentioned that Nowhere but Here was in the same vein as the One Percenter and The Handler by D.R. Graham, two books I had loved intensely. So I gave it a whirl on audio and loved it. I went back and forth on whether to just pick up the audiobook of WTE but I was just too eager to read Razor's book.

Can we get a moment of silence for my heart? Because it was put through the paces with this book. Breanna was the kind of heroine that I wish was a real person I could befriend. Though some of her struggles were a little atypical there was an endearing quality to her that made me want her to stand up for herself. Together she and Razor had the kind of chemistry that sparks right off the pages. I honestly could have read another 200 pages of heart-rending torment if it'd worked because they charmed me so much.

When it comes to sex in YA I have to admit that this was pretty racy compared to most of the books I've read in the genre but in such a way that it pushed just a little toward making me think new adult. That said, it's so well written and not gratuitous that I can't imagine the bits that I found a bit on the mature side not being an essential part of the plot.

If you enjoyed Nowhere but Here I think you'll really enjoy Walk the Edge, it's an emotional roller-coaster ride that left me breathless so many times I lost count. When I finished it at 2AM in the morning knowing I had to be up for work in less than 5 hours I knew it was going to be worth the dark circles under my eyes and the epic yawns. I'd dare say it's my new favorite book.

Note: ARC received via publisher for review.
