Walk the Edge - cover

One moment of recklessness will change their worlds

Smart. Responsible. That's seventeen-year-old Breanna's role in her large family, and heaven forbid she put a toe out of line. Until one night of shockingly un-Breanna-like behavior puts her into a vicious cyberbully's line of fire—and brings fellow senior Thomas "Razor" Turner into her life.

Razor lives for the Reign of Terror motorcycle club, and good girls like Breanna just don't belong. But when he learns she's being blackmailed over a compromising picture of the two of them—a picture that turns one unexpected and beautiful moment into ugliness—he knows it's time to step outside the rules.

And so they make a pact: he'll help her track down her blackmailer, and in return she'll help him seek answers to the mystery that's haunted him—one that not even his club brothers have been willing to discuss. But the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. And suddenly they're both walking the edge of discovering who they really are, what they want, and where they're going from here.

My Review:

Heart-rending, breath-stealing, and worth the lost sleep! (5 Stars)

Oh y'all. Oh. Oh. Oh. It has been a while since I fell this hard for a book boyfriend.

Last fall someone mentioned that Nowhere but Here was in the same vein as the One Percenter and The Handler by D.R. Graham, two books I had loved intensely. So I gave it a whirl on audio and loved it. I went back and forth on whether to just pick up the audiobook of WTE but I was just too eager to read Razor's book.

Can we get a moment of silence for my heart? Because it was put through the paces with this book. Breanna was the kind of heroine that I wish was a real person I could befriend. Though some of her struggles were a little atypical there was an endearing quality to her that made me want her to stand up for herself. Together she and Razor had the kind of chemistry that sparks right off the pages. I honestly could have read another 200 pages of heart-rending torment if it'd worked because they charmed me so much.

When it comes to sex in YA I have to admit that this was pretty racy compared to most of the books I've read in the genre but in such a way that it pushed just a little toward making me think new adult. That said, it's so well written and not gratuitous that I can't imagine the bits that I found a bit on the mature side not being an essential part of the plot.

If you enjoyed Nowhere but Here I think you'll really enjoy Walk the Edge, it's an emotional roller-coaster ride that left me breathless so many times I lost count. When I finished it at 2AM in the morning knowing I had to be up for work in less than 5 hours I knew it was going to be worth the dark circles under my eyes and the epic yawns. I'd dare say it's my new favorite book.

Note: ARC received via publisher for review.

And don’t miss the first book in the Thunder Road Series,

Walk the Edge - The Boy Everyone Needs

"There's something about McGarry's writing that's totally enthralling. Her characters are vivid, flawed and riveting, making this is a truly amazing read!"

~ RT Book Reviews "Katie McGarry is a master of her craft! Raw emotion, pure grit, I hang on every word. Her characters are real people with real problems and I cheer them every step of the way. Ready for a new addiction? Look no further than Katie McGarry's books."

~ Gena Showalter, Bestselling author of Firstlife "I finished WALK THE EDGE by the amazing Katie McGarry. It was SO good that now I feel bereft. I already miss Razor & Bre - I need to know more! She is by far my #1 favorite author. She paints a picture with the words, puts you IN the story... LOVE."

Weekend Reading [03/25 - 03/27] :: Getting Fit Fast & My New Book Boyfriend

It's been a little too quiet around here hasn't it? I kinda figured it was eventually going to be like that at times because when you work books sometimes you don't have as much time for 'just for fun' books too. That and I'm getting ready for RT while my personal life has been a very special hell for the past few months.

This weekend I'm finishing up Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry which I didn't think I'd love as much as I loved Nowhere but Here and damn if it's not even better. I'm actually planning to pick up a copy for my MIL who has a lot in common with Breanna. I think she'll love it. I think you guys will love it because Razor has turned out to be very complex with a hidden sweetness I wasn't expecting. Work wise I'm juggling no less than 8 books. No really. lol Most of which don't come out for quite some time so I can't tell you about them... yet.

And what are you guys reading, huh? As I cruise through social media I see lots of YA reading going on and less and less erotica. Do I detect a down tick in smut reading? Or am I just missing the peak hours for the dirty stuff? ;)

Meanwhile, here I am doing some insane new workout called PIIT28 that has shocked me. Y'all know I won't endorse stuff unless I really think it's worth talking about so this one is special.

After doing the freebie videos for a few years now I decided I was going to be even more motivated to stick with it if I paid for the workout and guess what? Today is Day 25 and I haven't missed a single workout yet. My favorite part though is the community, just like I love dishing with readers about books, talking about our successes and struggles and having the support of the other PIIT28 participants has been a huge help. In fact, I'm going to do it again after I finish the initial 28 and I would LOVE to find some friends who are interested to join me. Check out the link above and if you decide to try it let me know. I also find I do better when I have a friend who helps me feel accountable.

Speaking of working out, it's getting late and I still need to do today's. Good thing it's only 28 minutes and 40 seconds long! Have a fantastic weekend and let me know what you're reading! ♥ -- Rhi

“What kind of job?” His gaze swung to her, the wariness back in his eyes.

Excerpt from Ride Hard:

So much better out here,” Haven said, the night air cool against the tingling warmth of her skin. Although she was pretty sure that not all of the heat burning through her insides was from the alcohol—her unusual flirtatiousness and closeness to Dare over the past half hour had made her desperate with a heat that had nothing to do with her drinking game.

She walked to the railing and leaned against it, chuckling a little at herself for needing the support it offered. She felt so damn free, and it was a heady, exhilarating thing.

“What’s funny?” Dare asked, settling a hip against the railing right beside her. Arms crossed, jaw ticking with tension, dark eyes blazing, he was staring at her like he wanted to reprimand her or devour her. Oddly, neither alarmed her the way she would’ve expected it to.

Haven shook her head, leaning it back and letting her gaze float over the night sky. Blurry points of light swam in the moonlit heavens. It was beautiful and peaceful despite the pounding bass beat of music thumping from inside the clubhouse. “Not funny, just good. Happy, you know? Being able to do something a little . . . scary, but knowing I’d be safe doing it.” When Dare’s gaze narrowed, she shrugged. “I don’t know.”

A long moment passed before Dare finally spoke. “You are safe here, Haven. Never doubt it.”
