Review: Dying to Date by Victoria Davies

Dying to Date (Fated Match #2) by Victoria Davies
Paranormal Romance, Category Romance, Vampires
Ebook (216 pages, COVET)
Even the undead need a little dating help...
Vampire socialite Melissa Redgrave has the worst luck with men. Frustrated, she decides what she needs is a little help...from New York's biggest supernatural dating agency. Except that sometimes, a vampire doesn't always find her match.
Until she does. And he's delicious enough to bite.
Tarian Drake keeps his necromancy background quiet. After all, the ability to control the dead isn't exactly welcomed in the supernatural community. When he runs into the beautiful Melissa, she tempts him in a way that has never happened before. She's his perfect match in every way.
But just as they are about to take their relationship to the next level, his family decides to make a stand-by kidnapping his new girlfriend. Now, if he ever hopes to date again, he's going to have to get control of his family and free the girl. Oh, and stop a war.

A match fated. (4 stars)

If you've read LOVE AT STAKE then you're ready for Melissa's turn at having a match made through the service, Fated Match. If not, I really feel like this is one time when I have to recommend reading it first. You won't need it for the happily ever after to make sense but to really get Melissa and her dad you need that background.

I was really stoked to see the paranormal world expand a bit with the introduction of Tarian and the necromancers.  It added a good element of urgency and suspense to the plot. I'll admit it took me a while to warm up to Tarian, I can't quite put my finger on it but something about him felt really closed off. The chemistry between he and Melissa, however, was really good and made their situation both intense and satisfying.

The one thing that didn't really work for me is kind of silly but I didn't really feel like this fit the Fated Match series because the whole matchmaking thing didn't play a very big role in the story. It's not a big deal as it's still an enjoyable read, I just think readers who come to it wanting a matchmaking story will not find what they were hoping for and thus it felt worth noting.

Overall, it was a quick and enjoyable paranormal romance read. Sure to satisfy readers who like Romeo-and-Juliet (aka Our-Races-Are-Enemies) PNR.
