How To Claim Your Dragon...
As the head of security of Vegas's Crown Jewel casino―and its hidden dragonshifter sanctuary―ice dragon Darius Dachien commands respect. Unfortunately, that respect isn't always reciprocated. In fact, when it comes to the stunning Mei Chen, hostility might be a better word. Which makes things even harder for Darius, since Mei is his dragon mate. Without her, his dragon form is fading fast...and once lost, will be gone forever.
Mei can't deny the fierce chemistry that simmers between them. If Darius were ever to discover who―or rather, what―she really is, she wouldn't just lose him, but her place with the dragonshifters. The moment Mei's past comes crashing into her present, she realizes her time for secrets has ended. Now she must reveal her true self...and risk both her life and her heart with the one man who could destroy her.

A Dance with Fire and Ice (5 stars)
With his dragon form fading thanks to his fated mate's reluctance to complete their bond, Darius, is determined to win her favor. But there's more to Mei's continuous rebuffing of Darius than meets the eye. Mei's not the ice queen she personifies and if anyone found out the truth not only would her life be forfeit, her mate would lose his as well. When her past threatens to reveal her darkest secrets will Mei be able to trust Darius to love her in spite of her secret or will they both go down in flames?
Awww man I did not see Mei's secret coming and I usually pride myself on being pretty quick to catch these kind of things. It was both very exiting to get surprised and a little frustrating because it really, really put the majority of the storyline on Mei. In the previous Vegas dragons books I'd always found Mei mysterious and interesting and I grew to love her so much more with DRAGON HER BACK. The only issue I wound up feeling I had with the story was that it was so deeply centered around where she had come from and who she was that Darius kind of took a back burner. It was refreshing in a way but I kind of wanted to know him a little better, especially since what was revealed about him (that previous books hadn't touched on) was quite intriguing.
As a couple Darius and Mei sizzle. I loved their back and forth leading up to their book and found that instead of an enemies-to-lovers type thing it was really more multi-faceted. There's a history there that makes them just combust when they get together. If you love characters who are very fire-and-ice volatile but have a deep dark secret that's at the core of it all you will love this hard-won HEA.
If you've read the previous Vegas dragons books you will not want to miss this. Past characters play key roles and the world of the dragons gets some new development. If you haven't read them I want to recommend reading them first because this will not stand alone very well thanks to events involving these characters and their friends from the earlier novels is useful knowledge. I just think you'd be quite confused. Overall though, I loved this in spite of feeling like Darius' character development got the short stick.
