A satisfying contemporary romance from Entangled’s Lovestruck imprint…
Alyssa Miller is tired of waiting for her next-door neighbor to see her as more than just his best friend. Ready to let off some steam, she heads to Las Vegas for a romance book convention where, if she's lucky, she’ll get down and dirty with one of the sexy cover models.
Dillon Alexander doesn’t do commitment—especially not where his best friend is concerned. She deserves a man who can give her the world, not damaged goods. But when he realizes Alyssa intends to have a one-night stand on her vacation, he hauls ass after her to make sure he’s the one to scratch her itch.
Neither of them expects their explosive chemistry to burn hotter than the lights on the strip, but with a little help from Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, a flamboyant matchmaker, and TSA, what happens in Vegas might not stay in Vegas…

A little silly, a lot saucy! (4 stars)
Chances are if you're bothering to read a review for one of Gina L. Maxwell's books... it's because you've never read her work. If that's the case then read on and if you're already a fan just go buy the book already, you know you're gonna enjoy it!
TEMPTING HER BEST FRIEND is one of the first handful of titles in the new Lovestruck imprint from Entangled Publishing which focuses on meet-cute type tales that will feel straight out of romcom movie heaven. Sure enough THBF feels like it could have been on the big screen already and plays to one of my personal favorite storylines, the one where the hero has to chase down the heroine because he thinks she's making a mistake only to realize he's in love with her or to finally act on his feelings. While Maxwell's set up here is rather wobbly—the history between the characters felt pretty unlikely—it still manages to be ridiculously playful and deliciously fluffy. (The way one can justify eating a cupcake for dinner).
I've loved Maxwell's much darker and broody stories a lot so it took a little adjustment to decide if I liked this lighter side of her and I think other long-time fans might find themselves in the same boat. But if you're completely new to her this is a fun place to get started. I giggled a lot and even though so much of the story felt implausible that's what makes it good. The perfect pick-me-up blend of silly and sexy that you just need to dive into after a crappy week at work or a string of moody reads has you in need of lighter fare. Not my favorite Maxwell title but one I think romcom fans and newbies will devour with delight before finding her meatier reads.
