The power might be out…but the heat is on.
Every year, free-spirited Frankie Sylva banishes her holiday loneliness with good deeds. This time, she’s rescuing a truckload of neglected reindeer—until a blizzard sidetracks her scheme, and now she’s stuck…literally.
Local sheriff Red LeClair is shocked to find a very cute, half-frozen woman trespassing on Three River Ranch in a ditched rig, with a suspiciously empty trailer. Is she a horse thief? Is she on the run? Is she out of her mind? He has no choice but to take her back to the ranch and keep an eye on her.
But when the power goes out, Red and Frankie are forced to depend on each other in a way that both have avoided for years. The sheriff’s quiet holiday is suddenly festive: a crackling fire, candles, carols, and an irresistible stranger…who might be a felon.

A Christmas Tryst with a Sweet Twist (5 stars)

When well-meaning substitute teacher, Frankie Sylva, finds herself stranded on a cold, snowy Montana night her less-than-legal mission lands her on the wrong side of the law. Sheriff Red LeClair is watching over Three River Ranch while the owners are away for a Christmas in warmer climes so he takes it seriously when he finds an elf-costume clad woman with a horse trailer in the ditch. With the power out and the temps low the pair spend what would have been a very lonely Christmas together but once the weather permits a parting will Frankie's mission put them on opposite sides of the law?

July is the last time of year I find myself in the mood for a Christmas read but I'll be darned if I didn't find myself humming carols along with Frankie as I devoured SAVING THE SHERIFF. This is a series that I never thought would wind up being my cup of tea that has managed to wind its way around my heart time and time again. If you have a soft spot for animals, small-towns that take care of one another, and heroes with a prickly outside that hides a soft center you are sure to enjoy it too.

Specifically, SAVING THE SHERIFF is sweet and funny, the perfect one-sitting read during the busy holiday season when you just really need something to put you in the spirit. I adored Frankie and Red and this was just the right length to tell their story. Loved it!
