Carter Griffin, enforcing officer for the Seattle Wolf Pack, has a problem. He's been offered the promotion of his dreams…if he can find a wife to prove he's over his playboy ways. But Carter's already walked the matrimonial road and bought the stinkin' T-shirt. Besides, a werewolf only gets one fated mate. Been there, done that.
All werewolf dog trainer Faith Hamilton wants to do is earn enough green stuff to put her younger brother through college. Okay, okay, so she also totally wants Carter, her sexy next-door neighbor, to look at her as more than a friend. It's too bad size 12 and plain isn't his type. At all.
The two friends strike a deal to help one another out. They must face a variety of challenges from a psycho ex-girlfriend to a Yorkie with a shoe fetish...and that pesky problem of only having one-fated mate in a lifetime. Will a relationship ruin their friendship…or spark a love neither anticipated?Author Site: website
Two romances tropes are better than one! (4 stars)
Carter Griffin needs a wife or his promotion from enforcement officer to detective will go to a rival. But he's already had his fated mate and she died years ago. Finding someone who can help him get the promotion with a fake engagement is easy when his next door neighbor and friend would use some help of her own. Faith Hamilton is a dog trainer trying to get her small blog to bring in more money so she can help her brother pay for Yale tuition so when Carter makes her an offer to help her out in exchange for a fake engagement she bites the bullet and agrees. But it's never that easy and their own issues complicate every step of their pretend marriage. Can the pair overcome past hurts and current obstacles or is their friendship doomed?
SO I MARRIED A WEREWOLF is a toughie. I had lots of issues with it and yet still liked it a lot. The biggest issue off the bat was the friendship between Carter and Faith, it seemed contrived and felt even more so as the story went on. Carter is kind of unlikable and I hated the way he treated Faith most of the time. In contrast Faith was pretty likable but her size constantly being brought up bugged me a lot. It felt like there was a bit of a "in spite of her size she was going to get the guy" attitude to it that rubbed me the wrong way. That she spends so much of the time lusting after Carter while he can't seem to wrap his head around his feelings for her is majorly frustrating.
Those issues aside, it was a quick read for me in spite of its length. The blend of fake marriage and friends-to-lovers makes for a good read. I liked Faith's personality a lot and wanted her to get her man, even if he made me want to smack him most of the time. TPlus, their love scenes are scorching! Previous couples in the series get mentions which is always nice. If you like the tropes and werewolf stories you'll probably enjoy this one.
