Friends with benefits was never the plan…
Melanie Jacobs is in trouble. With three jobs—including running her ranch—and dwindling funds, she’s exhausted. Not to mention desperately trying to hide a secret. Unfortunately, her best friend Colton Freeze knows all too well that’s something is going on, and he won’t give up until he knows exactly what he needs to fix.
Then Colton learns the truth—that Melanie’s future happiness rests in the fickle hands of fate, and her chances for having a family are shrinking with every passing day. Her only comfort is Colton, but when a heated argument between them turns into an even hotter kiss, the boundaries of their friendship are erased, leaving only a scorching-hot hunger for more.
Every kiss—every touch—is a stolen pleasure. But will their new friends-with-sexy-benefits arrangement bring them closer together, or destroy everything they once shared?Author Site: website
All that she wants... (4 stars)
Though I've always found a best-friends to lovers trope to be a little unbelievable, man are they fun. Especially when you throw in the twist Zanetti uses in RISING ASSETS. Melanie and Colton have always been part of a trio but their lives have taken them in different directions until fate throws them back together. Colt can tell there's something up with Mel, she's a hard working woman but she's taking that to the extreme and he's determined to find out why. When he does things only get much more complicated.
With the town trying to nudge them together—because they can all see what Colt and Mel can't seem to figure out—the pair is in over their heads. Can they remain friends-with-benefits without consequences? And is that really the life either of them wants? If you've read either of the other Maverick Montana series titles you've probably come to have a soft spot for the community so be sure and add this one to your TBR pile. Colt and Mel are a terrific match and they're easy to like individually which is always a plus.
A smooth blend of steamy romance and friendship with a dash of wealthy businessman charm and a heaping of small town community, RISING ASSETS is a terrific read. I don't want to spoil the story so I can't really say much but if you like small town romances and the friends-to-lovers trope this is a must-read. RISING ASSETS can stand alone fairly well if you don't mind mild spoilers for the earlier entries in the series. It also does a wonderful job setting up Mel and Colt's friend Hawk for the next book.
