Action-packed and sure to make you emotional. (4 stars)

Talk about a game changer! After the events of LUCID I don't think I was alone in feeling like the BKoD series was really getting deep. Well, we were wrong. That barely scratched at the surface of the mythology Michelle has been building so far. DESTINY takes everything you think you know and then layers on a bunch of icing and sprinkles, there's no getting around that analogy because it's perfect. It was a great world before but it develops considerably this time around.

What ultimately wound up holding me back was Ethan. I was pretty darned mad at him, just as Nara was and for the same reasons. That he didn't seem to think she was justified after chapter after chapter of her trying to make him understand why she was concerned about the lies he'd been telling... well, I kind of wanted to scream. It's a good thing, in that it got such a response from me ('cause I had to care enough for it to matter), but it also made me begin to dislike Ethan which I didn't want to do.

That little annoyance aside it was such a good book! I was really surprised by some of the turns the plot took and excited to see I was right in my guesses about others. I was a bit sad with how some plotlines were tied up and pleased about others. If you've been an eager follower of the series this is a weighty and emotional story that's sure to have you so engrossed you'll burn your light into the wee hours. And, of course, the stage has been suitably set with lots more questions that need answering and adventures to be had when DESIRE (book 4) comes out.
