Mass Market Paperback $7.99 (368 pages, POCKET)
Nola Leary would have been content to stay in Kilcairy, Ireland, healing villagers at her family’s clinic with a mix of magic and modern medicine. But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it.
Complication One: Her grandfather was Mr. Wainwright and the artifacts are lost somewhere in what is now Jane Jameson's book shop. Complication Two: her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, who keeps turning up half naked at the strangest times, a distraction Nola doesn't need. And teaming up with a real-life Adonis is as dangerous as it sounds, especially when he’s got the face of an angel and the abs of a washboard—can Nola complete her mission before falling completely under his spell?

Harper fans are gonna love this one... (4 stars)
Since the blurb does such a great job covering the basic plot of this one let me jump straight to what I thought about it.
It's been a while since I read a book from Molly Harper... three years actually. But curling up with A WITCH'S HANDBOOK OF KISSES AND CURSES was like visiting an old friend after a long time apart. I had forgotten just how darned funny Harper is! I had always wanted to know more about Mr. Wainwright and if you did too this really throws open the doors on his youthful adventures. With his granddaughter, Nola, carefully seeking special artifacts he was entrusted with it's pretty fun seeing a new side of Half-Moon Hollow. All your favorite characters are back playing supporting roles.
Then there's Jed. I don't wanna give anyone's brain too much to work with but I instantly had an actor in mind that could play him if this were a movie. He's a secretive guy and for good reason. I loved the back and forth between he and Nola. They make a great pairing and his big secret was richly satisfying as a PNR junkie.
If you're a Harper fan you are gonna love this one. If you haven't read the other Half-Moon Hollow books I definitely recommend reading them first because this one could stand alone, but not very well. There's a lot of stuff you just need to have read in previous books to not feel confused what's going on... I definitely need to go back and read the ones I skipped. But overall, the perfect vacation read filled with laughs and a fun mystery element to keep you reading.
