Review: Chasing Mrs. Right by Katee Robert

Chasing Mrs. Right (Come Undone #2) by Katee Robert
Category Romance, Contemporary Romance, Erotic
Ebook $2.99 (? pages, BRAZEN) It was only supposed to last one night…
Roxanne Stokes doesn’t believe in love. She does, however, believe in the sexy-as-sin stranger who literally knocks her off her feet in front of a nightclub. The chemistry sparking between them takes her breath away, and she’ll do anything to ease the pain in his eyes…until she realizes the handsome stranger is her best friend’s older brother who’s just come home from war.
Ian Walser had no idea the gorgeous woman he slept with the night of his homecoming party was his little sister’s best friend—or that she’d be gone before morning. Roxanne’s touch soothes him in a way nothing else can, and he’s not ready to walk away from that yet. Not when spending time with her gave Ian a glimpse of everything he’s ever wanted.
When his sister unwittingly pushes them together, he sees his chance. But convincing a woman who doesn’t believe in love that she’s his Mrs. Right might be harder than any mission Ian’s undertaken. Good thing this soldier likes a challenge…

Love or lust... one for the lust lovers. (4 stars)

Ian Walser is a former soldier struggling with the things he went through while serving his country. Nightmares plaque him and crowds bring on a panic. When his well meaning family drags him to a welcome home party and the scene proves overwhelming it's a chance encounter with a gorgeous woman outside the club that brings him his first hint of calm. Roxanne Stokes is only showing up to support her best friend and has no interest in meeting the returning hero brother so when a smoking hot stranger collides with her begging off to help him seems like no big deal. When one thing leads to another and Roxanne and Ian discover who the other is it's a battle of lust and love.

Can a woman who was raised to believe that all love eventually turns to hate take a chance on it anyway? If Ian wants Roxanne can he accept the challenges that rise when lust gives way to love?

I've become quite the Katee Robert fan since starting to read her books last year and CHASING MRS. RIGHT is one I think her other fans are going to love. Roxanne is both awesome and frustrating at the same time. I love her confidence and refusal to back down when someone needs to stand up. But man did I want to smack her upside the head for letting her mom give her such a sad mindset regarding love. I'm still not sure how I feel about Ian even days after reading the book and trying to decide. He's not well fleshed out at the start so readers who love a mysterious man might love the chase. Even at the conclusion I still wasn't sure I knew him well enough to like him but he has that same confidence that Roxanne does and when they clash spaks fly in the best ways!

What made me unable to quite say I loved it is something I think most Brazen readers will love it for. I'm a fan of all heat levels in romance and man is this one steamy. If you read WRONG BED, RIGHT GUY and you loved the storage closet scene... you will get a chuckle when you read this one. ;) But after several scenes—all of which are written well and very hot—I kind of felt like there was more lust between Ian and Roxanne than love. It's one of those romances where you kind of wonder if it's more of a sexual chemistry thing than true compatability as people. Which works well for the genre but just kinda felt distracting after a while. A great steamy read for a weekend in bed!
