He needs a wife for three weeks…
Owen Phipps is out for revenge. His mission? To expose the man who stole his sister’s money and dignity. All he needs is a “wife” who can play along. Too bad his last best hope is an actress who tries to mace him with perfume when he offers her the role of a lifetime.
Lindy Knight is a real sap. She loves too hard, feels too deep, and often finds herself saying yes when she should be saying “Let me think about it.” She can’t believe her good fortune when Owen offers her more than enough money to hold off foreclosure until she can find a job. Three weeks at a resort, money she desperately needs, and she gets to help bring a criminal to justice? Score.
It seems easy enough until a couples bonding game turns intimate, and they realize how dangerous their mutual attraction could be. Can they keep their hands to themselves long enough to find the evidence Owen needs? Or are the close quarters more temptation than they can handle?

Another humorous hit from Christine Bell! (5 stars)
I am not a contemporary romance fan. It's just not my genre or choice. But Entangled Publishing has managed to get me reading—and loving!—some of them, the latest of which comes from an author I already love, Christine Bell. Bell's steampunky time-traveling Stormy Gale stories are awesome if you're into that kind of thing so I was truly thrilled to find out she was publishing a contemp with one of my favorite publishers.
I wasn't too sure what to expect with a tropey romp like WIFE FOR HIRE but somehow Bell manages to take an age-old category romance staple and make it funny, sexy, and surprisingly fresh. Lindy did push my buttons a bit, I kind of wanted to knock some sense into her at times, but that's exactly what was supposed to happen. Owen felt a little stiff at times, not quite real enough to completely buy him, especially as an Irishman and yet I couldn't help but think of Richard Gere in Pretty Woman with him. He's just a very guarded guy and for reasons that anyone would have the same reaction to.
While the romance between Lindy and Owen is the center of the story, the revenge plot keeps it moving and will likely have readers turning the pages from start to finish, I definitely found it hard to put down. Bell excells at bringing in enjoyable secondary characters to round out the story without overdoing it. By the conclusion I was rooting for Lindy and Owen's happily-ever-after and eagerly looking forward to seeing what Bell has coming out with Entangled next.
I highly recommend this one to old school category romance fans and fans of Bell's work under her Chloe Cole pen name. It's short, sexy, and the perfect afternoon delight for the romance reader needing a funny fix.
