Lucky-in-Love with Lisa Kessler [+ GIVEAWAY!]

Hi everyone -

Thanks to Rhianna for inviting me to blog today!

I'm a romantic at heart, but after my divorce, love was not one of my favorite subjects. In fact, I spent my first “single” Valentine's Day at a performance of Macbeth! LOL

So eventually the bitterness waned and it was time to dip my toe into the dating pool. With two preteens at home, I had a long list of qualifications for these poor men. And rapidly I started to realize that I may never find Mr. Right.

But meanwhile, I had a wonderful long-distance online friend who was going through something similar. We met in an online writer's group, and when I admitted to the group that my divorce was imminent, this friend emailed me off the loop and became a lifeline to me during a difficult time.

Eventually we met and person, and it felt like all the pieces fell into place. He made me laugh and didn't seem to mind that I can't walk in a straight line and I hate pairing socks. He also wasn't jealous of my writing time. He even encouraged me and believed in my abilities when my own faith in my writing wavered.

But he lived on the east coast and I lived with my kids on the west coast.

It would never work out.

The long distance relationship was too tough on me. The hellos were too short and the goodbyes lasted for weeks.

But something magical happened…

He called me one night and said, “I'm going to quit my job and move.”

I may have choked on my tongue. “What? But what about your job?”

“There will be other jobs. But there is only one you.”

Okay I still get little floaty heart-shaped bubbles over my head when I retell that story, and we've been married now for over 5 years! LOL

We ended up getting married by Elvis in Las Vegas a few months later. Life's too short not to have fun, right? ☺

And I still feel extremely lucky!!! In this huge world, we found each other. You can't ask for more than that…

What a lovely romantic story. I think getting married by Elvis would be fun. I always said if I ever got married again, not happening, I would get married on Halloween and have everyone come in costume.

That was a very beautiful story of how you met and married your husband. Life is funny, isn't it? I can't share due to lack of space, but something similar happened to me. Best wishes on your writing career!
