The Five Books I’m Detemined to Get Through Before Summer is Over

I was inspired to write this blog when I saw all the neat summer reading recommendations already on here. Now, I know it’s already the beginning of August but there are some books I’m determined to get through before temperatures cool and the back yard BBQ season is over.

So here it goes, in no particular order, what I have to read before it gets cold outside:

1.The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter: I’ve always had a thing for Greek mythology and I’m happy as a cat in sunshine to see this style book becoming popular in paranormal romance. A gorgeous, tortured, angsty Hades looking for a new bride? Sign me up.

2. Entwined by Heather Dixon: Similar to the updating of Greek mythology is the trend of updating fairy tales for the modern age. You can see this everywhere – Beastly, Tangled, The Princess and the Frog. I’m glad someone like Dixon decided to be brave take a chance on one of the lesser known tales of Grimm. I’m holding out hope that her version of the Twelve Dancing Princesses is as stunning as it looks.

3. Supernaturally by Kiersten White: I loved the first book in this series, Paranormalcy, because I enjoy books with paranormal heroines seeking normal lives. Evie reminds me a lot of a younger, more together version of my character Faith Bettincourt and the story sucked me in. I can’t wait to find out what happens when Evie realizes that normal isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be.

4. Eye of the Tempest by Nicole Peeler: I love Jane True. She’s the character I wish I’d written. If I was funnier. And seals didn’t sort of freak me out. Neither of those things is going to happen though so I’m happily along for the ride that Peeler’s taking her readers on.

5. Succubus Revealed by Georgina Kincaid: I never thought I’d be excited about having a teacher’s strike last year. And trust me, 6 weeks of having my kid home during the middle of the school year wasn’t fun, but it did give me a longer summer since school here doesn’t start until September 12th. That means this little gem will slip in just before the end of summer and it made my list. Who doesn’t love Georgina Kincaid? And this book is set in Las Vegas? Talk about one hell of a book to finish out the summer with.

Although I don't read some of the genres you mentioned, they do sound interesting.

I got my request in the mail just before I left on vacation and couldn't wait to begin: Gamble by Felix Francis.

I think The Goddess Test looks great! As does The Luck of the Devil. I'm really excited for the titles Entangled has coming out. The covers are fabulous and I'm glad to see books offered that aren't all same old/same old. Best of luck with Luck of the Devil!

I'll take Luck of the Devil please. I have also been saving Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh for a rainy day. Can't tell you how hard that has been - its in my Kindle. But I am determined to meet certain goals before I read it.
Cheers,
Rayka

Out of the books listed I'd have to say The Goddess Test is the one that caught my interest most.

Two of those are on my TBR pile! I'm also dying to get The Mephisto Covenent by Trinity Faegan, though that won't make summer. An adult novel I'm chomping at the bit to get is Second Grave on the Left by Darynda Jones. Her first book, First Grave on the Right, was FANTASTIC!
