Paranormal Romance, Futuristic, Shapeshifters, Psychic
Mass Market Paperback $7.99 (352 pages, BERKLEY SENSATION)
Ebook $7.99
Audiobook $29.99

Used to cold silence, Faith NightStar is suddenly being tormented by dark visions of blood and murder. A bad sign for anyone, but worse for Faith, an F-Psy with the highly sought after ability to predict the future. Then the visions show her something even more dangerous-aching need...exquisite pleasure. But so powerful is her sight, so fragile the state of her mind, that the very emotions she yearns to embrace could be the end of her. Changeling Vaughn D'Angelo can take either man or jaguar form, but it is his animal side that is overwhelmingly drawn to Faith. The jaguar's instinct is to claim this woman it finds so utterly fascinating and the man has no argument. But while Vaughn craves sensation and hungers to pleasure Faith in every way, desire is a danger that could snap the last threads of her sanity. And there are Psy who need Faith's sight for their own purposes. They must keep her silenced-and keep her from Vaughn...

This just might not the series for me... (3 stars)

As an F-Psy, a Psy with the ability to foresee the future, Faith NightStar is a valuable asset to her PsyClan. Kept secluded and heavily monitored she is not even very familiar with her own people. Mentally fragile, emotion could damage her beyond repair. But when her visions become shrouded in blood and darkness she is willing to brave the danger of seeking out the only Psy she knows who can help her figure out where they are coming from.

Vaughn D'Angelo is a jaguar Changeling living with a pack of leopards. When Faith must pass through their lands to find the answers she needs he is intensely drawn to her. But claiming her, overwhelming her with his touch could shove her over the edge, breaking her mind. As the mystery of her dark visions begins to unravel can she take strength from the Changeling who would give anything to make her his?

Faith was one cool character. The sort of naivety paired with her ability made her interesting. Vaughn was overbearing for my tastes. His constant pushing the boundaries with Faith bothered me a lot. I kind of wanted to jump in and say "back off buddy" because I almost felt like he was bullying her into letting him touch her. I don't want to pull out the "R" word but in a way it kind of squicked me out because that's essentially the vibe I was getting. I know it wasn't intended that way but well, it just bugged me.

The overall plot of Visions of Heat was dull. I felt like I was dragging my mental feet through mud. As my second Psy/Changelings series read I think it may just be the general themes. It's too extreme in either direction. It's either heavily cerebral or carnal with no real romance, if that makes sense. There's a lot of talking about the next move and a lot of sexual tension but so little action happens. I prefer more physical fighting in this genre and less talky-talky.

On the whole I didn't hate it but this installment didn't help sell me on the series. I think it would be a great read for those who like their hero extremely Alpha and handsy, their heroine mousy and timid. I'm not sure I'll read more of the series but I definitely like Singh's style and will probably look at her other series in the future.
